Redemptive Practices for a happy body

Training as a means of
reclaiming something.

Not performance. Not punishment. The long work of inhabiting a body well — across time, across difficulty, across a life that keeps changing.

What this is

Most training culture is built around short-term outcomes — aesthetics, numbers, seasons. Redemptive Practices starts from a different premise: that the body is something to be lived in, not managed.

Strength and mobility are not goals in themselves. They are foundations — for work, for family, for presence, for everything else you are trying to do and be. Training is the practice of building those foundations, steadily, across a whole life.

Redemptive in the sense of reclaiming. Your capacity. Your confidence. Your right relationship with your own body. Not as an aesthetic achievement — as a way of being.

This is where that idea lives: in writing, in practice, and in coaching.

Billy Wayne Blackwell II

I am a personal trainer and coach based in Berlin. I work with adults who want to move well, build real strength, and feel at home in their bodies — without burnout, gimmicks, or the relentless short-termism of mainstream fitness culture.

I have been coaching for over a decade. My work draws on strength training, mobility work, and a steady, practical coaching relationship — the kind that adjusts when life shifts and holds the long view when you cannot.

I own and operate Happy Body Berlin, where the in-person and remote coaching work actually happens.

Remote Coaching

If you want a coach, not a program.

Most people who reach out for remote coaching are not beginners. They have trained before. They know what a squat is. They had stretches — sometimes years — of consistency, and then life reorganized itself.

Remote Coaching through Happy Body Berlin is a structured, ongoing relationship. Personalised programming. Bi-weekly calls. Daily monitoring. Monthly reviews. Someone who knows your body, your history, your constraints — and adjusts when things change.

$3,500 / year

Billed annually. Small roster. Application-based.

"Billy is enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and truly listens. Our schedule allows for imperfection and adjustments as life happens — all of this makes for the creation of positive habits that are lifelong." — Remote client
